Revise and Resubmit. Use the Writing Center! Marina, Thank you for submitting your draft. Overall, you have a solid bit of work here. Just because you're being asked does not mean you did not write a fair draft. Seek the help you need to raise this to meet all the Competence standards. You may also try to raise it to hit the Mastery standards too! In general, I really liked how you lay out different challenges people face. But my question is--why? I mean, most educated people know these things. They know there are gender and racial and religious discrimination. What are you calling for here? One major suggestion I have, which you can see in the bubble comments in the document and the rubric below, is to think about what you want your audience (See Module 3) to think or do differently. Cut back on how much you just "sharing" information. And instead, what do you want your local audience to do? This points to another issue: I see very limited use of sources. I encoruage you to make sure you use 4+ sources as required. Using doesn't just mean sticking them in either--it means quoting, paraphrasing, and so forth. I really like this source: https://www.ursinus.edu/live/files/1160-integrating-quotespdf., It is based in MLA, so you will need to edit it for APA. It is also based on quoting--but you can use the ideas here for any source integration, including summaries and paraphrases. I also suggest doing some quoting, which I see very limited of here so far. Really, how you lead in and lead out of sources is the ONE area I think needs attention before this hits mastery. I suggest a clear outline here:
I suggest using the Writing Center before resubmitting. Revise the paper based on my comments. Then, meet with someone one on one. If you cannot, at least send it in via the submission portal. Then, make the revisions suggested by the Writing Center. This way, you'll set yourself up for success on your next submission. Please reach out if you have questions, [email protected]
