Going Green
Introduction
Tired of seeing all that smog? Yea I don’t see it either but it doesn’t mean that pollution doesn’t exist. Compared to Europe, the United States does not generate that much electricity from renewable energy. Renewable energy is clean, cheaper, and is very easy to replenish.
We all know we contribute to carbon emissions which we all know are bad and most of us think there’s not much we can do but we should see what we can do as a nation, state and as individuals.
There are ways to go green which would effectively help reduce our carbon footprint. We can do it from a National view, state, and even individually.
First main point (strongest)
A. Nationwide
Build a clean energy economy by investing in efficient energy technologies, industries, and approaches.
Solar energy (power from the sun) is vast and for our purposes is limitless and its only constraints are time. Solar panels are devices that convert light into electricity. A solar panel is a collection of solar cells.
B. Support
1. Reduce rainforest deforestation, along with the CO2 emissions associated with the process.
Use standard saws? But actually, there are construction vehicles which run off of battery rather than oil and some gas users can use filters.
C. Support
1. Increase vehicle fuel efficiency and research other ways to reduce the use of oil.
Wind turbines harness air currents and convert them to emissions-free power. Plentiful and inexhaustible in the United States and around the world, that energy could be used to charge car batteries.
Second main point (second strongest)
A. State
1. The states could increase the limit that polluters are allowed to dump around the state. There are already limits in place but in all reality, they should be lower and also not be getting dumped into the waters that surround Michigan.
Producing energy from biofuels, biogas, wind power and solar energy can create jobs in America’s heartland, generate significant clean energy, and make Midwest farmers more competitive in the market world.
B. Support
1. Provide jobs and improve the economy by making more jobs for specialized techs.
Compared with fossil fuel technologies, which are typically mechanized and capital intensive, the renewable energy industry is more labor intensive. Solar panels need humans to install them. These wind farms need technicians for maintenance as well.
C. Support
1. Hydro dams provide power derived from the energy of falling water or fast running water, which may be harnessed for useful purposes such as cars, powering homes, etc. Many states full of natural running water can make use of this technology.
However, it is important to recognize that many renewable resources are located in remote areas that lack ready effective access to transmission. States that have not established clear utility regulations that enable investments in transmission to be reimbursable nor even coordinated planning, slow the development of mass scale renewable projects in their regions.
Third main point (weakest)
A. Individual
1. Simple things include remembering to turn lights off when not using them. you should avoid flying when possible, fly less frequently, fly shorter distances, and fly economy class.
Recycling your cans, using paper plates rather than Styrofoam. Make energy efficiency a part of your consideration when choosing a new furnace, air conditioning unit, dishwasher, or refrigerator.
B. Support
1. Change your vehicle, they are multiple hybrid vehicles for those who wish to have both. However, there are even cars that run solely off of a battery. After incentives and gas savings, it essentially costs nothing to switch to an electric car.
You can even change your energy supplier to one which offers power produced from clean energy. Walk or ride your bike in order to avoid carbon emissions completely.
C. Support
1. Dot use straws, they’re awful for the environment and contribute the most plastic to pollution compared to any other product in the world.
It’s a choice, but a few involved grocery lines are involved in programs which off customers to purchase reusable grocery bags which reduce the use of plastic and paper bags.
Conclusion
A. The world needs a shift towards cleaner energy, it’s not clear but the environment is slowly dying in places of the world.
B. Remember that there are many ways to solve this problem whether it be form the help of a country, the help or change in your state laws, or you can even go green with actions which are cheap and easy and obviously more expensive ones like buying a Tesla.
C. A change is necessary in the world and it’s up to the people on it to make the change, everyone can do their part, presidents, state senators, and even the average American citizen.
