I give myself an “A” because no matter how bad of a situation I faced, I kept going with my education and work. Even though, I had been working full time as a software engineer, I continued my education and completed MBA by March 2018. First, I want to share my fall quarter 2017. I finished my job with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) in Sep 2017 and accepted a Data Scientist job in Wells Fargo. Data Scientist was a new technology to me and I took 3 MBA courses in fall 2017. I spent 7 days a week for MBA courses and Data Scientist training to succeed. I took about 3-4 hours each day to learn new technologies related to my job while enrolled for my MBA core courses. So many things were going well in my professional life at that time. But sometimes personal life problems disturbed my concentration on education. I was working as a consultant for Wells Fargo through a consultancy company. The consultancy business model was different and they kept placing the engineers in different technologies without providing good training. Since Oct 2017, I had been working in different technologies and learned various new technologies on my own as learning became my passion.
In winter 2018 quarter, I had only Capstone course and finished my MBA by March of 2018. I give myself an “A” because I studied hard and completed my MBA. I give myself an “A” because I learned Big Data and Data Scientist technologies in one year, and got a new full-time job in Data Scientist area with a leading company by Oct 23rd, 2018. I give myself an “A” because I completed MBA with ITM major while working full-time. I give myself an “A’ because it took me 5 years to where I am today. I am working as Data Scientist for Wells Fargo and leading the Analytics team. Masters in Computer Science, MBA, and work experience has helped me to become more successful and valuable in this job market.
I give myself an “A” because I could create a solid network of professionals and students. I came back to school after such a long time which allowed me to meet with new people. I’ve networked with a handful of good friends who I feel may be a part of my life for a long time. What made me happy is that I will now have a good career with double masters and be able to give back to my parents who has supported me and always been there for me.
Finally, the self-appreciation played an important role in the learning and achieving process. Life is hard and being harsh on ourselves will never help, instead it will make life harder, stressful, and frustrating. I learned and applied self-appreciation which was required for a successful career, mind, body, and soul.
