Natural Hazard/Disaster Project

This project will include a 2-3 page double-spaced 12 point font written report on a Natural Hazard/Disaster intended to increase public safety through improved understanding of the Natural Hazard/Disaster and provide strategies for Natural Hazard/Disaster mitigation.

Choose one (1) Natural Hazard/Disaster listed below: (or contact me for approval if another)

2. Earthquake

4. Hurricanes

5. Landslides

6. Tsunamis

7. Volcanoes

8. Soil erosion

9. Land Subsidence

10. Climate change (Drought, El Nino, etc.)

In your report include:

1 Title page:

a. Name

b. Natural Hazard/Disaster

c. Class

d. Date

2-3 page Content:

· A description of the Natural Hazard/Disaster (facts and causes).

· Identify a location where the Natural Hazard/Disaster took place.

· Present data from websites like the USGS, FEMA, NOAA or any org website (Wikipedia not an acceptable source) focusing on the damage that occurred (human casualties, environmental damage, infrastructure, etc.)

· Identify as many things as possible that went wrong.

· Identify what new mitigation techniques could/should be implemented to prevent loss of life and environment and infrastructure damages.

· Name one thing you would do or suggest another do in the event of such a Natural Hazard/Disaster.

*Label all figures and pictures with a short description.

*Include citations and references from at least 2 sources. (MLA or APA format)
