Gang violence, such as drug trafficking, rape, and gun violence, has grown across the country since the mid-twentieth century, with gang-related offenses rising in five of the last seven years. There have been few comprehensive studies of gang prevention programs, and there is no consensus on how gangs form (youth.gov). It is past time for police intervention to be reduced, and communities and families must be integrated in a well-balanced program of prevention, intervention, and repression for youth at danger of gang involvement. They are more aware of the hardships that gang members face since they interact with them on a personal and community level. In gang violence research, police records are routinely used to analyze the structure of gang conflict, however relying too much on a single data source could hinder crime control efforts (Bichler, Norris, & Ibarra, 2021). Because gang members live among community members, community people should ideally be at the forefront of the fight against gang violence. Second, gang violence is a leading cause of death in the United States, particularly in areas where black people are the majority (Van & Densley, 2021). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), young individuals aged 15 to 19 account for 42 percent of all gang-related deaths. Law enforcement classified black male males aged 15–35 years as gang members had a very high risk of death. A rise in mortality has been linked to the prevalence of gangs in the lives of young black Americans (Pyrooz et al, 2020). The Juvenile Programs Office recently released a report that includes information on the present condition of group difficulties in the United States, why adolescents participate in packs, the threats and allures that lead young people to join gangs, and how gangs are formed. The study looked at how members of the community might begin to assess their gang problems and ensure that preventative and intervention strategies are in place. The bulletin also goes over a number of prospective and successful measures for avoiding youth delinquency and gang activity.

The government and stakeholders should measure community, family, and school risk factors to stop youth gang violence. Since youths growing up in more disorganized neighborhoods, impoverished, distressed families, and performing poorly in schools are at an increased risk of becoming gang members.
