GameStop has been very important in the lives of many gamers. However, it might go out of business in the digital age due to changes in the industry of games. The company experienced the effect of the digital era slowly dragging on it. Lately, the company has been receiving awareness from the media due to the changes in stock prices. This condition is influenced by the lack of some content in their stores. In 2019, Sony decided to remove all contents digital from the stores of GameStop, which led to many people shifting to digital gaming, which has increased on higher levels. In 2009, physical games were at 80% compared to 2018; physical gaming was 17%, while digital gaming was 83%. Digital gaming tends to be easier and less expensive due to the introduction of new systems such as the Microsoft game pass, which allows gamers to pay every month and play any time. The GameStop company should introduce new models that favor digital gaming to get back their customers.
