The given picture depicts the true story of gambling. In the picture, a person is going to the casino with lots of money and then when he started playing, he loses all of his money. Gambling has made people greedy about winning more money, and when a person start to gamble, he/she become unable to stop. The Pathos in the picture is that every person dreams on multiplying their money, so they take a lot of cash from their homes in the hope of winning more, he/she ends up on losing everything. Gambling is bad because the probability of winning is painfully low and it leaves people wanting more.
In the picture, a person is heading to the Royal casino with a thought of winning lots of money. After playing for some time, he loses all of his money. By looking at his dress up, he looks like a middle class young person. Being a middle class person, he probably don’t have enough money to play for fun. He must have gone to the casino with the thought of winning some money. At first, he goes to the casino with positive thoughts, but later, all of his optimism end up losing him his money. He might have saved his money from his hard work, or might have stolen from someone else. The person became so greedy to win money that he gambles all of his money, but at last, he loses all of his money.
The chances of winning at casino or any game machine is incredibly low. It is said that every game machine is programmed to collect 30% of the total money that are inserted by the player. Even a Singapore pools has mentioned in their website that there is only 1 in 13, 983,816 chance of hitting Group 1 Jackpot for TOTO for each ordinary entry. (https://sg.get.com/sg/blog/reasons-gambling-bad-idea/ , Denise Bay, 2016). Every individual who gambles have a mentality that, the more bet you play, the more you can win. When a person wins $5000 at the casino, he continues on playing for more betting higher stakes. But if he loses some money, he/she continues on playing in hopes of recollecting the money they lost. This is what every person thinks when they are gambling. But if they end up on losing all of his/her money, he/she try to think of a way to get more money to get back the amount they lost. Then, the person involves in selling their property, stealing from someone else or get into serious debt. That person could have done lots of productive things with the money instead of gambling it off in the casino. He/she could have bought clothes, eat delicious food and fulfill their needs. Gambling even causes trouble to their loved ones. First of all, it makes money problem in their family. And secondly, gambling brings impact on children. Person who gambles require more money to play. So, people end up with using all of the money they have which create a financial problem in their family. When parents are involved in gambling, children also get influenced from their parents and start gambling.
This is how gambling can tear a person’s life apart. Like in the picture, a person gamble with a thinking of winning money without much effort but ends up with nothing. This is the reality of gambling. It’s really rare to win at casino. Otherwise, everyone would be gambling. But, it’s a mentality of every person that gambling can multiply your money. This is why people gambles to win more money, but end up in serious debt or involve in crime.
