I think the biggest area of concern regarding health threats would be the influenza virus and the rate it is spreading through the area. In addition, we should not discard the employment of a CBRN weapons due to the effectiveness of the virus. Another threat associated with mental health is stress. Preventive Medicine and Mental Health are essential in this type of operational environment. They can minimize risks by establish controls over health hazards. As we learned in ATP 3-35:
General threats are also an important factor that we need to consider in our planning. Lesson 8 mention IEDs as a weapon of choice for insurgents. That is why learning how to neutralize IED’s is vital to help combat the numerous casualties suffered by the U.S. Proficiency in tasks such as Convoy Operations are also ways to decrease the risks of threats in theater. Disseminating information about the Operational Environment and its changes are essential in minimizing these risks. Other controls that can be implemented to reduce risks are a continued hazard assessment of the area of operations and contingencies plans in place ready to execute when the need arises.
Very Respectfully
