Funding Through Grants
Grants are documents written to different entities such as non-governmental organizations or government agencies to secure financial aid. Therefore, the proposal should be articulated effectively to achieve its purpose. The critical elements encapsulated while writing grants include writing effective problem statements that outlines why the funds are needed and the goals that the required finances hope to achieve (Nelson & Ruffalo, 2017). Subsequently, another significant element is indicating the expected outcomes of the project that will be undertaken using the needed finances and the processes that the initiative entails that will be directly implemented using the funds.
An example of a grant proposal is written to Bella Vista Foundation by LifeLong Medical Care facility. The purpose of the proposal was to request financial assistance that would be used in funding a program that purposed to assess the parenting support initiative available for vulnerable women with infants from poor socio-economic backgrounds (Candid, n. d.). The strong points inherent in the grant proposal include an adequate explanation of the intended purpose of the funds and the activities that would be undertaken to achieve them. On the other hand, the critical weak point of the proposal was that it did not provide examples of the proposed activities that would aid in achieving its goals.
The strategy that I would use to improve the grant proposal to encourage the funder to provide the needed financial assistance is describing examples of situations of the poor, vulnerable women who would benefit from the proposed program and how the program will be fundamental in improving their situation (Barasa et al., 2017). The strategy will help the funders conceptualize the essentiality of funding the said project because it would have impacted the community positively and helped improve the lives of the citizens of the area.
In conclusion, grant writing is a vital process in a human service agency because it can provide the monetary resources needed to finance significant projects essential to the community. While writing the document, it is necessary to ensure that all essential elements are incorporated, and emphasis is placed on the strengths of the proposed projects.
