Completion of this extra credit opportunity will earn 5 points to be added to both your midterm and final exam grades. With these two exams counting for 80% of your total course average – 10 points added can serve as a significant boost. (Exam scores will not be raised over a standard 100% so keep in mind for those with a 96 or higher on your exams your extra credit will raise your score up to a maximum threshold of 100%)

Optional opportunity for you – as such I will not entertain any requests for variations of how extra credit points are applied, nor will I engage in dialogue (email or otherwise) concerning this optional opportunity for extra credit. The choice is entirely up to you – the opportunity is available.

Topic: Funeral Rite From a Subculture Unfamiliar to You

For this paper, you will discuss a funeral rite from a subculture with which you are unfamiliar.  I'm looking for three parts to the paper, which should be easily prepared, if you have sufficient articles to cite with it.

1.  What is the subculture - what is its basic principles?

2.  What are the specifics of their funeral rite - why do they do what they do?

3.  Wrap up with integrating the subcultures' principles being "honored" through the steps of the funeral rite.
