REFLECTION PAPER: GUIDELINES
The 1 page reflection paper is a major element in Malden Catholic’s Christian Service Program. The paper will be worth a test grade 100 points. The paper must be typed (12 point Times New Roman, one inch margins, double spaced, cover page, Spelling and grammar will be a part of the grade.) It will have, stapled to the back, the service sheet(s) which outline the work you have done and contain a name and contact number for an adult who can verify your work.
All hours must be logged through x2vol in advance for full credit on the paper. Late penalties and loss of points will occur is not submitted on time.
Read the following Scripture passages, and pick one to incorporate into your paper, and relate it to your service.
Luke 4: 16-21, Luke 16: 19-25, Matthew 25: 14-40, James 2: 14-17, Luke 12: 41-48
The following pages will be a reflection. This reflection may contain all or some of the following:
· Why you chose to do this work
· What you got out of it
· Your favorite aspect of it
· People, words or events that stuck out to you
· What you didn’t like about it and why
· How this service could affect you and your life
To complete your essay, create a prayer which may reflect what you have learned and what graces you have received in Christian Service. You may wish to follow a format similar to the following: This does not count as part of the 1 page paper, but is a part of your grade.
· Address God or Jesus by name
· Thank God for specific experiences (even specific people)
· Thank God for insights or appreciations you have gained about yourself, your responsibilities, other people and their needs, etc. If you received the grace of “falling in love” with what you did, express this feeling.
· Ask God to help (bless, protect) people with needs, as appropriate. Try to be specific.
· Ask for God’s help to remember your experiences and/or to do something specific.
· End with Amen
