FORUM GUIDELINES (Summary)

Forum Guidelines Summary

TOPICS / THREADS

You are required to post a thread in response to at least one of the topics for each chapter forum. There will be two or more topics from which you may choose each week; you do not have to post to all available topics, although doing so is likely to raise your Forum score.

Each thread must be 150–350 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge by use of specific concepts, which are defined and or cited. Please provide the word count in parentheses at the end of your thread.

If you draft a post that exceeds 350 words, considering breaking it down into two or more threads – Each will count as a separate post. This also provides additional threads for others’ responses.

RESPONSES

In addition to creating at least one thread to at least one topic, you are required to reply to the threads of at least two others. Each reply must be between 50–150 words and include the word count in parenthesis. Again, longer responses can be broken into two or more responses.

Outside sources are not required, but are likely to raise your score. Any additional sources must be in current APA format. Refer to the grading rubric for specific guidelines and grading criteria.

Please NOTE

Drafting threads and responses in Word or similar form is a good idea. But do not upload the file; copy/paste posts to the forum itself. Don’t forget to provide the word count.

TIMELINESS

For each chapter forum, post your initial thread to the topic(s) you choose to write about no later than 11:30 p.m. CT Wednesday of that week. This provides other participants a variety of ideas and insights to which they can respond throughout the week.

If your initial thread is not posted by the Wednesday deadline, the highest possible grade for that forum is a C. All thread posts and responses must be posted by 11:30 p.m. CT on the Sunday of that week, unless otherwise noted.

In order to view or respond to others’ posts, it is necessary to have posted an initial thread first.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Please see the Forums FAQ overview and the Forum Rubric for additional information. Pay special attention to expectations for collegiality and courtesy in our online interactions.

Posts that violate any of these standards or protocols will be taken down; if you see a post that appears to violate the Student Code of Conduct, please flag it to bring it to my special attention.
