. The Epic of Gilgamesh, written around 2000 BCE included a story on a great flood that nearly destroyed all humans. The Book of Genesis, written several centuries later also included its own version of a great flood. When reading, consider the point of each story and its significance to the their respective historical settings.
Once all reading is complete, respond to the following:
· Why do these stories appear and acquire significance?
· Do these references to a great flood represent some commonly believed myth, or do they reflect an actual event?
· What do the stories have in common? In what ways do the narratives differ?
· How do the stories add to or complement what we know about the ways these societies functioned and in what they believed?
Submit an initial posting (200 words minimum) that addresses the items above. You are also expected to respond to the posting of at least one other student (100 words minimum). Your response should address why you agree/disagree with their posting, support it with new evidence to bring a new perspective to the topic. Do NOT submit anything as an attachment since some people cannot open certain formats.
