For this post, you are to choose a current or past event (e.g. movie, news event, personal experience, etc etc) and  after a review of the material for Chapter 13 (SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY)  write a reflection/impression post about the event you chose. That is, describe an event that had a signifcant impact on you by  using all the relevant CONCEPTS AND THEORIES from the chapter. You also integrate a complete idea from at least one research article.

 

Previous examples of topics: One student wrote about the media's persuasive influence on the election of President Obama in 2008. Some students chose recent events in the news and attempted to explain the cause using concepts and theories from social psychology. Some students read certain novels and described their thoughts about the novel (not a critique). That is, they described the plot and gave detail on how the story displayed certain concepts and theories of social psychology.  Many students discussed movies (e.g. The Help, The Dark Knight Rises, Avatar, Shrek, Ruben Hurricane Carter, Crash, etc etc)  and described their thoughts on the movie (not a critique) based on the events. That is, they described the plot of the movies and how it depicted the concepts and theories of social psychology. Some students described a personal life event. For example, one student, a White man married to a Black woman described how he is treated when alone compared to when he and his wife and children are together.
