Title Of Writing Assignment

(i.e., Response to Pages ___ to ___)

All writing assignments must be 125 words (approximately 9 lines of text) typed with 12-point

type (Times Roman or Arial), double-spaced, and justified to the left. Handwritten assignments

will not be accepted. These writing assignments are not summaries. They are CRITICAL

RESPONSES to the readings. I want your opinion INFORMED BY THE ENTIRE

READING. After reading the entire reading, type your answers to the following questions: What

is the most important thought you got from the entire reading? What information did you like

the most from the reading? Why did you like that particular part? What does that part remind you

of in our day and time? Are there any other ideas that come to your mind when you think about

the reading? What are they and why do they come to mind? Answering these questions will

assist you in writing a meaningful response. Your response must consider the entire reading or it

will not count. It must also show that you seriously thought about what you read. If it does not

show careful thought, if it uses the author’s words in answering the questions, if it is a summary,

if it comments only on the pictures or a minor idea in the reading, if it restates the questions to

take up word count space, or if it is not 125 words, it will not count.

Writing assignments cannot be turned in late. They are due at the beginning of class on

the due date. Also, they cannot be made up. You are allowed one drop for each half of the

semester. After your first drop, 10 points will be deducted from your class participation grade

for each writing assignment not handed in or not counted. Writing assignments can be e-mailed

to the instructor the date it is due in the event a student is going to be out. However, the student

must e-mail the assignment before the scheduled class time in order for the assignment to count.
