Note: This assignment will be valued at 150 points as it is the largest document in the course. Learning Objectives This is a researched and documented proposal. The objectives for this assignment:

• Deciding on a topic that fits the intended audience and purpose. • Presenting information in an appropriate manner to reach the audience and achieve the

purpose. • Using reliable sources to inform and support ideas. • Integrating sources correctly/properly within your ideas. • Correctly using MLA style format to cite and document sources, avoiding plagiarism

issues. • Applying visuals and graphics in an appropriate manner to enhance the document. • Writing concisely; avoiding grammar, spelling, punctuation and mechanical errors.

Audience:

• A decision maker within the organization/company/entity to which you are submitting your proposal.

Purpose:

• Motivate the reader to take action Topic: Choose one of these two options:

1. Offer to carry out a fundraising activity to benefit an organization (planning proposal) 2. Offer your services/product (sales proposal)

Note: Students can make up an organization that the fundraiser will benefit or make up a business for the sales proposal. Any type of fundraiser can be created. Keep in mind that the proposal plan must be feasible. Parameters (Required Content):

1. 1,300-1,500 words total (no minimum/maximum page count required) 2. MLA style with in-text, parenthetical citations and a Works Cited page at the end of

document. a. Check turnitin score; must be no higher than 15%

3. Remember, you must cite, even when paraphrasing or summarizing. 4. Properly label and cite all visuals and graphics as needed. 5. Follow formal proposal format; see pages 560-569 in text for example.

Proposal outline should consist of the following:

1. Cover letter—introducing yourself/your company and providing an overview of your proposal and/or the reason why you are submitting
