Leadership Profile Paper & Presentation

The ability to author a well written paper is a staple undergraduate work. By mid-semester you are to read about one historic leader discussed in the book, Forged in Crisis: The Power of Courageous Leadership in Turbulent Times by Nancy Koehn and craft a paper using the following guidelines.

Your paper should be written according to APA 6 guidelines and include an abstract and cover-page with the assignment title, your name, date, university name, school name, course number, and professor. See figure 1 below. Your paper should be no less than 7 pages in length, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman, 12-point font, and include a reference page. There is no penalty for writing more than 10 pages. Do not plagiarize as each submitted paper will be scanned through iThenticate plagiarism software. References from the book and course textbook should be followed by an in-text citation. Each page should be numbered at the center and bottom of each page. Your cover page and reference pages do not count towards the total page count. Each section of your paper should be labeled with the corresponding question in bold.

Choose one of the following historic figures: Ernest Shackleton, President Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Dietrich Bonhoeffer or Rachel Carson to craft your paper from. Your paper should address each of the following questions:

1. Describe in detail the crisis that this historic leader faced. This should be a detailed account with multiple references to book. Please include intext citations with page number references.

2. What early childhood experiences influenced this leader? What early life experiences influence their decisions during their respective crisis? This should be a detailed account with multiple specific references to book. Please include intext citations with page number references.

3. What obstacles did this historic leader face during their crisis? How did they respond? What leadership traits did they exhibit? What was their philosophy and leadership style? This should be a detailed account with multiple specific examples from the book. Please include intext citations with page number references. References with citations to the course textbook should be made when identifying and defining these specific leadership traits and styles.

4. How did this historic leader seek to implement their vision? Were they successful? Having the benefit of hindsight, could they have done anything differently? Given the challenges they faced, how do you think you would have responded under such pressure?

5. What sacrifice did this historic leader have to make? This should be a detailed account with specific references to the book. Please include intext citations with page number references.

6. How did this historic leader manage their emotions? This should be a detailed account with multiple specific references to book. Please include intext citations with page number references.

7. Are leaders born or made? Support your answer referencing your historic figure and their respective experiences.
