PROBLEM ● Problem question: How does finals week affect students diets,

and do students consume more caffeine and energy drinks during this time?

● Purpose of our study was to see if students have a change in their diet and sleep patterns during finals week, which can be associated with higher or lower stress levels

● Important for the University and teachers to understand the extra stress students can unintentionally put on themselves during finals weeks which can affect grades and performance

Hypothesis & Methods

● Coffee/Energy drink(+)

● Hours of sleep(-)

● Number of meals(-)

● Number of exams(+)

● Difficulty of Major (-)

● Gender ○ Female(+) ○ Male(-)

● Dean’s list(+)

● Scholarship requirements(+)

● Athletics/club sports(-)

Eating a poor quality diet is associated with increased stress and bad eating habits during examinations ( The week, PTI).

We believe that UD students will have an overall poor quality diet and high stress levels during finals week.

Conclusion and recommendations ● Since diets are less healthy and different than regular diets during finals week

○ University can increase healthy snack availability in dining halls during this period ○ According to our survey, nearly half of the students get snacks during final week.

● More energy and caffeinated drinks are consumed during finals week

● Too few samples, the results are not scientific and accurate enough ○ Most of the students surveyed are from the same college ○ The sample is not complete

● In the future survey ○ Think about what else does the student have besides functional drinks

and sleep reduction during the final period
