According to the study, SNAP, that is, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the affiliation has been regarded as the cornerstone of California’s as well as the country’s nutrition assistance safety net. SNAP is a program which tends to serve a rather broad spectrum of individuals with low incomes since benefits tend to be available to most individuals who seem to attain non-financial and financial prerequisites.
From the given websites, I have chosen California Congressional District 3 whereby, around 11 % of the populace receives SNAP, with an estimation of $ 72,261 households on median outcome not on SNAP. The ethnicity or rather race in this district has diverse people ranging from Hispanic, Native Hawaiian, Asian, American Indian, African Americans and Whites.
Looking at Who’s Hungry, the section on hunger and poverty seems to make more sense since these two go and in hand. Most people who face hunger tend to be forced to undertake some rather tough choices between medical bills and buying food, transportation, and rent. This struggle has been seen to go beyond harming the future of a person’s family thus could harm everyone else.
From California Congressional District 3, the households that receive SNAP are quite average depending on the kinds of households. For instance, those below the poverty level receive SNAP at a higher percentage (34.90%) as compared to those who do not with 10.00 %. On the other hand, those with a single or more individuals with 60 years and above have a higher percentage of households not getting SNAP at 41.80 as opposed to those receiving at 25.90 %.
From the readings, it is clear that the world population is growing on a daily basis. Technology defines the machines as well as the tools which are helpful in solving problems or doing novel things; the methods, skills, and techniques for solving a problem; such as medical technology and construction technology. The use of manure from huge farms of chicken as a form of fertilizer on farms has a huge advantage in the production of food. This manure in turn has increased contents of nutrients that consist of: phosphate and nitrogen. Nevertheless, the presence of heavy rains tends to wash these nutrients into bays and rivers (Weaver, et.al, 2017).
In addition, it is also clear that the lack of health care services aggravates even minor illnesses leading to suffering and deaths. The World Health Organization explains that higher income and social status are associated with improved health while jobless and poor people live in poor health conditions (Hite & Seitz, 2016). That is, means the greater the gap between the wealthy and poorer members of the society, the bigger the difference in health.
I have had people close to me struggling with putting food on the table. As part of the extended family, most families came together and collected some food which was delivered or rather donated to the members dealing with food shortage. Lastly, it is much clear that taking preventive precautions early enough is key and should begin at a young age to help improve socioeconomic factors and encourage healthy behaviour such as diet and exercise.
