Sample APA 7 Edition Paper [Title of Assignment]
The first part of the paper is called the “Introduction” section, however; it should not have a heading that actually says “Introduction.” The paper should begin with a topic paragraph that introduces the problem/subject matter. The introduction informs the reader about the key points of research found in the paper. The key points are the main ideas of the paper developed to use as a guide for writing the paper. The next section includes the body of the paper, which includes strong paragraphs explaining and supporting the thesis statement. The body of the paragraph will use the heading styles shown below.
APA-Style Headings
There are five levels of APA-style headings. The first level, Heading 1, is demonstrated at the top of this page. It should be bolded, centered, and the first letter of each word is capitalized.
Heading 2
The second level of heading is bolded and situated flush left, and the first letter of each word in the heading is capitalized. The paragraph text should be typed on the following line and indented five spaces from the left.
Heading 3. The third level of heading is bolded, indented five spaces from the left, and followed by a period. Capitalize only the first letter of the first word, and proper nouns. The first paragraph following this heading should be typed on the same line as the heading.
Heading 4. The fourth level of heading is bolded, italicized, indented five spaces from the left, and followed by a period. Capitalize only the first letter of the first word in the heading and of proper nouns. The first paragraph following this heading should be typed on the same line.
Heading 5.
The fifth level of heading is the same as regular paragraph text, italicized, indented five spaces from the left, and followed by a period.
Conclusion [Sometimes not required]
The concluding paragraph(s) that appears at the end of the body is referred to as the “Conclusion” which should be a level one heading, bolded, and centered. The conclusion of the paper provides the reader with a concise summary of what you have presented throughout the document. This includes the most important points and supporting evidence of your arguments or position presented in your research. Finally, this should connect together into one final impression for the reader. Following the conclusion is the reference list page where all the works cited within the paper are provided. The “References” heading should be a level one heading, bolded, and centered.
