Choice of the research areas is approved on a first-come-first-serve basis. No two teams can work on the same research area.
Your article

There are many issues that cause concern in Financial Management. You will need to find an article (preferably 10 pages or more) that has been published recently (preferably in the past 10 years) where there are some controversial issues, or some issues that will need clarification, discussion or even debatable. You should avoid choosing an article that just repeats the concepts taught in the class/textbook. Examples of desirable topics are: 1. The effect of coronavirus on bonds market, 2. Insider trading, etc.

You have to be extra careful with the choice of articles as it might have huge impact on the score. You are solely responsible for the choice of articles as it is an integral part of your performance in your team project. The professor will not help you to choose an article. Report your choice by email in the following format:

You need to identify core concepts mentioned in the article, you are expected to concentrate on performing further research and writing critical comments on those core concepts. Your focus is on how to apply the concepts and create solutions/recommendations to solve financial management problems.

You will submit your written report to the Turnitin Box. A maximum similarity of 20% is allowed. Cover page, content page and reference pages are excluded from the 20% limit.

Deadline

Choice of a research topic and an article has to be finalized on or before February 12, Friday <sect 4>, or, February 13 Saturday <sect 9 & 20> in Week 5.

Powerpoint presentation for 10 (maximum 12) minutes in total will be done by every team member on March 26, Friday <sect 4>, or, March 27 Saturday <sect 9 & 20> in Week 11 . A set of powerpoint notes and a copy of your article should be submitted to the professor via Moodle before you start your presentation. Every team member should do their own portion of the presentation. You are required to submit your written report only once to Turnitin Box on Moodle (file name: for example, FNCE623(09)-Team1-StockMarket) at or before 11:59pm on March 26, Friday <sect 4>, or, March 27 Saturday <sect 9 & 20> in Week 11 .
