Scenario - My uncle is 74 and has recently sold his business. He is in good health and is looking forward to doing projects around his home. He and his wife made this very easy for me as they’ve exhaustively researched the best housing situation for them. They’ve decided for the time being that the best thing for them is to remain in their home. They are mobile and have minimal health problems. My uncle’s wife loves her four dogs and wants to be able to keep them. While the home is large, everything they need is on the main level, including their bedroom. They’ve renovated their bathroom to make it more accessible as they age. They recognize that as they age, they may have to make different decisions in regards to housing. Through various means, but most significantly through the sale of my uncle’s business, they have very solid retirement savings.
