Finding Company Profiles, Industry Profiles, and Country Reports in Business Source Complete

Company Profiles

Step 1: Click the “More ▾” option located in the gray bar at the top of the database search screen, and choose “Company Profiles.”

Step 2: From the screen below, enter the company name in the search box or browse using the alphabet menu. Be sure to check the company location and industry in the third and fourth columns to ensure you are selecting the appropriate report.

Step 3: Complete MarketLine or Medtrack company profiles are available in the second column, labeled “PDF Complete Report.” These are large files, but you can navigate using the table of contents located on the left (outlined in red below).

Industry Profiles

Step 1: It is advisable to use the appropriate NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) code if you know it. You can find these in the “Company Information” section of the database, accessed using the link in the gray bar at the top of the search screen. Note: You can also visit https://www.naics.com/search/ to find industry codes. If you use this method, skip to Step 2.

Choose the company from the results list.

You’ll find NAICS codes in the “Industry” of the Company Data. Click the + in front of the word “Industry” to see the associated NAICS Codes.

Step 2: Go back to the search screen and enter your NAICS code and change the “Select a Field” option to “IC NAICS Code or Description”.

Then, use the “Source Types” limiter on the left side of the screen to limit your results to “Industry Profiles” and click the “Update” button. You may also want to choose the Market Research Reports and the SWOT Analyses options here.

Results will now show industry profiles on your topic from various sources. Be sure to use additional search terms and limiters to focus your search.

Country Reports

You have a couple of options on how to access country reports.

Option 1: First, search for a country name, then limit source type to “Country Reports.” “Source Types” is an option in the limiters on the left side of the results page. Check the box, and click update. Be sure to check the publication dates to ensure you are accessing the most up-to-date information.

Option 2: Search for [country name] AND “country report.” Be sure to include the parentheses. Again, it is important to check the publication dates of the results for currency.

Hint: These are large documents without a table of contents/navigation. Use the magnifying glass option to search for terms within the document.
