Find and Cite Sources

This assignment will help you to find and correctly cite references for your Point/Counterpoint Essay signature assignment which is due at the end of class. If you have already used APA, this will be a good review. If you have never used APA before, in addition to doing this assignment, please make an appointment with the NU Writing Center https://nu.mywconline.com/ for a 40 minute online appointment so they can help you use the correct APA format in your essay.

DO THIS ASSIGNMENT BEFORE YOU WRITE YOUR POINT COUNTERPOINT OUTLINE IN WEEK 2.

Watch the training videos and read the information about APA, below

Write two paragraphs (5-6 sentences per paragraph) about what you learned from the training materials.  You do not need to use APA format for this assignment or provide any references.

1. Watch the following short video on how to format your Reference list. Cut and paste the following link into your browser. http://apastylecentral.apa.org.nuls.idm.oclc.org/learn/browse/QG-57

2. Watch the following short video on how to order your Reference list correctly. Cut and paste the following link into your browser. http://apastylecentral.apa.org.nuls.idm.oclc.org/learn/browse/QG-24

3. Read the following 1-page instruction on Reference List format. Cut and paste the following link into your browser. https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/06/

4. Listen to the following short 7 page tutorial on basic in-text citations, citing multiple authors or sources, and citing sources with no author or date. Cut and paste the following link into your browser.  http://apastylecentral.apa.org.nuls.idm.oclc.org/learn/browse/QG-29

5. Read the following 2-page handout on APA. Cut and paste the following link into your browser.  http://nu.libguides.com/ld.php?content_id=8766101

6. Read the University of Florida document on Scholarly vs. Popular Periodicals. (Your Signature Assignment will require using scholarly sources). Cut and paste the following link into your browser. http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/instruct/scholarly.pdf

7. Watch the following 15 minute video https://youtu.be/5feljOeUgZ8) on how to use the NU library databases to find a scholarly source.

Create the 2 paragraphs about what you learned in a Word document (not Notepad or Text).

Save it before you submit it because Bb sometimes fails.

Note: Using Notepad or text files instead of Word documents often makes what you submit unreadable. If you experience technical difficulties in submitting this assignment, seek immediate assistance from Blackboard Support at 888-892-9095 and notify me if the problem is not resolved within 24 hours.

.

Then submit your assignment, using this option - Select Browse My Computer - to upload the Word file from your computer. Do NOT copy and paste your assignment.
