Assessment 2
(Part A)
Reflective practices aim at assisting individuals learn and develop from their own past experiences. They are a means at improving the outcomes of a particular goal. It not only enhances the learners’ awareness of their abilities but also promotes independent learning. In the presence of group work, there are many different ideas hence a possibility of multiple outcomes. Reflection is therefore important so as to comprehend the goals that they want to achieve, (Saunnila & Ukko, 2015).
During the assignment, assigning each individual with a different question determines the outcome of the final answer. This is because everyone has a different way of solving questions. Meeting to start a discussion and do one question at a time is time and energy consuming thus it is important to assign each individual with a question to enhance their comprehension, accountability, and also commitment to that particular assignment. It’s important to understand the assignment objective so as to work effectively and to meet the expectations and requirements.
Some diligent individuals may find it hard to work in groups as they feel that their success is being placed on the hands of the other group members. They therefore need motivation such as setting targets for each individual and assessing each other’s work that was assigned to them. Nevertheless, it is important to assess the strengths and weaknesses so that each individual can understand the areas they need to focus on.
One of the objectives of the group work is to help the students gain team work skills. Toa achieve this objective it is important for each individual to manage working with other people. They should be reliable enough so that a question be assigned to them. They should be trusted enough that they will complete the necessary research and provide complete and accurate answers. The group leader should also be able to enhance communication so that the set meeting dates are clear for everyone. Each member must also communicate efficiently to enhance the outcome of the group work.
To achieve the objectives of the group it is important to develop self-management skills. This is by setting achievable goals such as solving questions at a particular time. It can also be holding a number of group discussion meetings before submission of the work. Its therefore important for the group leader to closely monitor each individuals work by knowing their progress. It can also be achieved by evaluating each work by discussing the solutions provided by each individual in the team. There should also be rules and guidelines set for the group so as to provide a framework of the coordination of the group work.
During the group discussion, each individual should be able to build their confidence, cooperation and coordination. This will assist them in future team works at the work place. They should also be able to identify solutions to problems and make group decisions effectively.
