Leadership Concepts 

Leadership concepts are factors that are considered by leaders when they are implementing a certain leadership style. Leadership concepts focus on the traits of the leaders that they should have and how to use those traits in playing their leadership role. Leadership concepts help leaders to understand the kind of skills and traits they should have to develop good leadership roles. In this course, I have learned some leadership concepts that include; integrity and honesty. Integrity and honesty are traits that leaders should have. Leaders should be honest and trustworthy to run the organization smoothly.  Leaders should have the ability to resolve conflicts that may arise. They should have strong conflict resolution skills to come up with the best method to resolve conflicts. Good leaders can solve conflicts by mediation, encouraging dialogue, and reconciliation among one another.  For leaders to manage their team effectively they should encourage two-way communication. Good leaders create their time to listen to their team members. Leaders should develop their adaptability, which enables them to interact with others in different situations (Garretsen & Weber 2020).

Another leadership concept learned is that leaders should have self-awareness. Leaders who have self-awareness can understand their limits. Effective managers know when to ask for support and know-how to regulate their reactions and emotions. They should also be able to understand what one is capable of.  Effective leaders should have empathy and understand other people’s feelings and be able to listen to others.  Leaders should build good relationships with the team members and workers.  Leaders with empathy skills create trust among workers and this leads to higher job satisfaction because employees are comfortable in their working environment.

Leaders should have a great vision that reflects leadership traits that initiate creativity and innovation. Leaders should have a vision of motivating, inspiring, and engaging other team members to be successful.  Examples of these leadership concepts include; the 'Be, Know, Do concept.' Leaders should be professional and hold themselves accountable. They perform tasks honestly and ethically. They should know and be aware of themselves (Sivarat et al., 2021). They provide mentoring and give the team directions. 

Elements of a plan that strengthen the practice of leadership include the following; when leaders are embracing change in an organization, they should be transparent which is accompanied by two-way communication.  Transparent leaders give credit to other members when success occurs and they take the blame for failure.  When making decisions, leaders should have confidence because no one is ready to listen or follow a leader that is not self-assured.  Leaders who have confidence are happy and have good relationships with coworkers and other employees. When making decisions they should also be creative enough (Corriveau 2020). Team members usually look at the innovative leaders. Good leader learns from their failures. Leaders who have strong characters gain respect from their peers.  Leaders who have self-awareness are likely to be available when you need them. Leaders should make simple efforts for employees to follow them. 

Conclusion 

For leaders to succeed they need regular training on leadership skills. Effective leaders are teachers and not coaches. They help their teams to grow and support them by providing several pieces of training.  Great leaders respect each other and show trust to their members.  Lastly, but not least, good leaders should have effective communication and listening skills for the organization to be successful.  They should be good at listening, directing, advising, motivating, teaching and coaching.
