Final Teaching lesson instructions

1. It is time to write a final lesson plan and teach the actual 20-30 min lesson. Each of you in the past may have already had a serious discussion with a mentor teacher (when applicable) about the final lesson you will teach; if not, that's ok, but think about it today. It is recommended that you use a lesson from PLT workbook but not required (See section #5 below for unauthorized lessons). Normally, you would plan with the teacher in the classroom you will use, but that may not be possible if your teacher isn’t available or you are not a teacher assistant. If a mentor teacher at your school is available, continue to reach out to them for help.

NOTE(Updated Fall 2020): If you are a traditional student, perform lesson from home

2. Your lesson will be submitted the same as the demonstrations but will be 20 min:

a. Submit the lesson plan to the correct drop box (I normally prefer you use the template from the school where you teacher assist, but you can use the Guided Inquiry format).

b. Then, upload the full lesson to ONEDRIVE and share it with my USM email.

3. Finally, the full lesson is normally required to perform in front of children at a school; however, this won't be a requirement if your school is closed or you are a traditional student. To clarify, when the module opens, performing full lesson in front of a classroom is no longer required IF you are NOT assigned to a school. If you are assigned to a school as a TA, then it will be in front of children. If not assigned to a school, you can perform lesson at home, or other location you deem reasonable (Church, Day care, or home, etc.).

4. The documents within this lesson module will assist you in final preparations. One document is the rubric for which I will use to evaluate your lesson so plan wisely. Please feel free to call me anytime if you need more assistance. I highly recommend working with your mentor teacher (where applicable). Again my number is: 601- 297-6704. Text first to let me know who is calling when possible.

5. These are a list of unauthorized lessons and lesson plans to teach and write for the final assignment:

The five senses, parts of a plant/ Flower, the life cycle, and types of clouds.

SUMMER STUDENTS ONLY : Due to summer teaching restrictions, I am providing each student with one of the following choices ( In each case, children must be present except during COVID restrictions ):

Option #1: Arrange to teach at your school’s summer program (if applicable), another school location, a special summer program, or teach lesson at home. (For example, the child-care center at USM has been very accommodating in the past, use a Sunday school class from a church, etc. I want to be as flexible as possible).

Option #2: Take an “I” for the summer session, then teach sometime the first week or two in the Fall after school starts. I will then change your grade ( this has been a popular choice in the past ). Once lesson is completed, you will submit at the ONEDRIVE Webmail site.

****** NOTIFY ME YOUR CHOICE ASAP BY SELECTING ON THE SPREADSHEET PRIOR TO FOLDER DUE DATE.
