Issue: Lack of Mental Health service

Policy: IS to increase access to quality mental health services.

1. Identify the problem and provide context/background.

a. Provide information about the problem (ex: access to health services, healthcare cost, and health disparities etc.)

b. Include historical development and present-day description of the issue.

2. Response to the problem

a. Provide information on previous and current efforts to address the issue.

b. Introduce your health policy here and how it addresses your health issue

3. Describe the landscape.

a. Who are the individuals/groups affected by this issue?

b. Who are the individuals/groups who have attempted to address the problem in the past?

c. Discuss the political players trying to modify or influence your selected health policy.

4. Discuss the levels, branches, and institutions of government (federal, state, local) involved with making and implementing this policy.

5. Discuss the pros, cons, and health implications of this policy.

6. Describe how or if this policy should be modified and what needs to happen in order for the modification to occur to lend to a positive health outcome.

Each question (#1-6) needs to be supported by at least 2 credible and evidence-based resources. One of these is a peer-reviewed journal article. (Total 12 sources at least)

2. The paper should be, double‐spaced, formatted in Times New Roman font type, 12 point, with 1-inch margins on all sides. The page requirement is up to you; as long as each question is answered appropriately.

3. Do NOT rely primarily on websites for your research. Your final project paper must have some peer‐reviewed citations (i.e., from peer-reviewed journals), in addition to other sources such as books and reputable websites such as the WHO, CDC, NIH, etc. (Please-no Wikipedia-type refs). You can use the course textbook as a reference.

4. All content should be given a proper citation as per APA style (see Resource folder for guidelines or google “purdue owl apa” for easy to read/view examples

5. This paper is a professional document so it needs to be free of grammatical and spelling errors and avoid using personal pronouns (ex: “I think….I looked up”). Formal writing is what is used in peer-reviewed articles/books

6. Be sure your paper is formatted per APA: cover page, headers, page #, references etc

7. No late work will be accepted with the possible exceptions of a well-documented medical or police emergency. Please anticipate technological problems such as slow or malfunctioning computers, thumb-drives, internet slowdowns, etc. and do not wait until the last minute to submit your paper.
