Exploring Information Technology Project

In today’s world the technology has become very advance in every field. In recent decades the technology has crossed its limit and is still in the process of developing and making human life easier. The biometric system was one of the main achievements in the field of technology, but it has developed various other methods like face recognition systems which will detect the person's face and upload its data in the database. This system was implemented in various government offices and companies. In my project, I would like to implement this technology in our university campus which will make the campus very advance in all fields. 

The research of face recognition systems has been widely adopted in recent years due to the increase in the progress of artificial intelligence. The market for facial recognition systems is increasing day by day. This system is not only adopted for security and software purposes, but it has been adopted in various fields like transportation, retail business, the hospitality business, and banking industries. If we can adopt this system in university for security, it will help all the students and faculty will be safe. 

The University of Texas at Arlington was established in 1895 and it’s been 126 years. It is located in Arlington, Texas. It is a college of business school, and it is a public research university, and it is under the parent institution of the University of Texas systems. UT at Arlington has made everyone proud by placing its rank in the third largest in graduating college students in Texas. The nickname of the college sports team is Mavericks. The motto of the university is “The cultivated mind is the gradian of democracy”.

Today’s the problem of security has been one of the main topics in every school and university. If we see internally then the university or school has always been the victim of theft of supplies or the equipment of labs or offices. There has also been problem-related to violence, bullying, fights in the groups, or not being treated well by student or faculty member, or vice versa. 

If we see the external problems then there has been a case of robbery, there has been a case of selling drugs, there has been a problem of terrorism inside the school or university. The problem of terrorism has been one of the most problematic in every educational institute in the world. By looking at this problem I want to implement the face recognition system at the University of Texas at Arlington by which the university will be free from all the problems and where the student can focus on their studies. 

As a student at the University of Texas at Arlington, I feel like safety is one of the most important things in the campus surrounding. Everyone would like to reach their home safely after the class. The safety of the student and the faculty should be given in the hands of artificial intelligence. This system will watch and severance every move of the student, faculty, or unknown people 24/7. The high-level solution is divided into two sections one is the software section and another is the hardware section. 

4.1. Software component of the face recognition system

The face recognition system is developed using the programming of python. Usually, the software must scan and load all of the student and faculty faces in its database where it will track each and every move of everyone. To happen this the management must make some investment to buy the software for this. 

4.2. Hardware component of the face recognition system

For the hardware part, the main component is the camera. It must be installed at every entry point of the building. It can be placed in the parking lot or around the campus by which it can track every move. The other thing needed is the power supply as it needs a strong power supply. Without that, it won’t work, and it will not recognize anyone's face.  

4.3. Functionalities of a face recognition system 

After installing and implementing the system the following service can be provided in the university:

· The security will be very tight. There will be 24/7 surveillance in the university compound.

· The crime rate will drop down by almost none.

· The student will not have to carry their identification card every time as the face recognition system will scan all the students.

· Faster entry through the security gate in the library or in any building in the university which has security.

There are many benefits of having a facial recognition system. One of the benefits of having it is the campus will be free of crimes and violence. The student and faculty will feel safe and secure inside the campus. It will also help to track student attendance. To track the attendance of the student manually is a time-consuming process and most of the time it is not accurate. 

Over the long run, information gathered from this innovation could assist heads with planning really obliging learning conditions and encounters, while working on the viability of class scheduling and adjusting plans in like manner. Assuming there is no conventional method for following participation and commitment, establishments think that it is hard to carry out these measurements and without doubt personnel and understudies have better activities toward the beginning of class than count heads and sign names.

As the technology was aware of the biometric system, now it has been moving towards a face recognition system. Facial recognition has a simple algorithm approach to scan the face. It will scan the landmarks of the face like eye, cheekbones, nose, etc. it will scan the length and depth of the face and send it to the database system to match the data which will search the image matching to it. The use of this system also depends on 3-dimensional recognition. This system will capture the shape of the face and gather information about it. Usually, this system focuses on the face structure and required three cameras which will focus on different angles like in the front, side, and in the angles. 

The change should come into the university campus and set an example of being implementing the facial recognition system on the campus. The management team should change or set up the rule and regulations for the system. The student and faculty should inform ahead so they can get an appointment to give their face data which can be put in the system. They should set up certain teams to maintain and observe the system. The code of conduct must be made and introduced to everyone about the facial recognition system. Since it is a new system implemented most people do not know about it so they should be informed ahead of. There will be an improvement in the system which will make a safe and better environment.

The facial recognition system is one of the most powerful technologies introduced in the surveillance society which will scan, analyze, and confirm your identity which is stored in the data. The problem is when the system fails to recognize the face of the person due to less visibility of the face or the face is covered with the mask or scarf. In this kind of situation, there can be a problem but apart from that, the system will recognize almost all of them whose information is stored in the data file. 

This practice is already used in some countries like China where the school has implemented the facial recognition system where they monitor the behavior of the student in the class, and they also send the data to analyze the performance of the student. Besides that, the school provides good security for the children.

Over two decades the face recognition system has been developing its performance rapidly. Today, we can use it in our daily lives like on our computer, laptop, on mobiles, at our house door, etc. This system has become very common but implementing it in the university building and area will be a grand success in terms of security and another purpose. This system will surveillance the campus area every second which will reduce the threats and violence. It can also use in the classroom to track the performance of every student in the classroom. This system also helps to make attendance for the professor directly by scanning the face of the student present in the class and sending the attendance sheet data directly to the professor by the end of the class. This system will help the faculty a lot.

Overall, by implementing this system there will be benefits for both i.e., management and the students. Not all technology is perfect, so this technology also has some drawbacks but there is much more to gain from it. I totally recommended installing this system at the University of Texas at Arlington. 

Implementation of plans is always one of the important steps which will execute and show the result at the end. For this project of implementation plans is as follows: 

· The first is to set up the security team which will handle all the movements of the student and faculty inside the campus area.

· Second to install the camera in every corner of the campus area, inside the classroom, labs, library, offices, and at the entry and exit point of the buildings.

· The third is to connect the camera to the software which will scan the face and connect it to the database.

· Forth is to import all the data of all the students and faculties in the cloud or in the database. This will help to generate the data of the student needed. 

In this project, we have focused on the safety and security of students and faculty of the University of Texas at Arlington. This will be acquired by implementing an Artificial intelligence system that is a facial recognition system in the campus area. This system will help to make a university campus a better place for education. Also, we have already discussed the benefits and implementation of the system in the university, it will benefit both the management and the students at this university.
