Subject: Progress Report for New Company Website

Purpose

This is a progress report on the best way to develop the Gems Galore Jewelry website and include updates with current trends and customer needs.

Summary

Gems Galore Jewelry Company has been using an old website developed in 2017 and is not compatible with the ever-changing trends in the modern world. The website lacks pages which showcases some of the products on sale. These products include rings, bracelets, necklaces and other jewelry. The project aims to develop a new online website that can consider the new emerging issues with the new technologies. This includes making the website an e-commerce website incorporating SSL allowing customers to create profiles, track their products and make payments all in a secure website. The new project is geared towards enhancing the company’s efficiency in its manufacturing by creating brand awareness, increasing the sales made online, and spreading more awareness to customers on its goods and services. The website will incorporate SEO, social media, brand exposure and make the website mobile friendly. It is almost four weeks since the project kicked off, and it's expected to last for seven or nine weeks. Most of the activities such as SEO research, adding product pictures and prices, have been executed though some are yet to be implemented.

Introduction

The proposed website would be mobile-friendly to the users. In addition, the website is usable to anyone and everyone, even those with limited vision and fashionable. The contents of the project outline history details of the company, including the previous website in use and its pros and cons. Details such as:

· The company's profile.

· A Call to Action button- GET A QUOTE- for customized jewelry

· Blog spots to inform clients on the new product developments and innovations.

· The company's emails, cellphone numbers, locations opening and closing hours

· Advanced payment methods such as PayPal, Visa and mobile payments.

· Links to the company’s social media pages

Progress

Since the project started, it's been almost four weeks, and only three out of the seven tasks have been completed. However, the three completed tasks are critical in any website development project.

Task 1. Creating and optimizing the search engine to incorporate the company's details and history.

Web search is the customer first process in the customer buying process. The website could benefit from SEO as it helps the customers find the company and products faster. Since the development of the website in 2017, there have been no updates and further developments.

The proposal on SEO will include Keyword Research will help to generate traffic from search. This will help focus on keywords for which a certain degree of search traffic already exists. The second part includes Keyword Optimization know where and how to employ keywords in your content for optimal searchability. This process is followed by Content Organization which helps customers find related content quickly. Lastly, content promotion which will increase the websites visibility by sharing it on social media and establishing links from blogs.

Task 2. Creating a portal for customer service, including a blog to communicate the products and services offered.

A client portal is a digital gateway for information sharing, file exchange, and community hosting. The company will help clients log in and get information and services when businesses make them available.

Lastly is the improvements made to the visual design of the company's profile. Some of the challenges include not being able to clearly define the web's objective but solved through having a stakeholder meeting to define the aim clearly. Insecurity of the web development process is a challenge that is anticipated though it might be collected by having strong security passwords at each phase.

Task 3. Back end development and training

The tasks remaining include coding both front end and back for the software, training the technical team on the software, and carrying out tests for quality assurance to be completed in the remaining three to five weeks.
