Requirements: Three full pages at minimum. Works cited page if you work on the short story.
Options (Choose one for your focus. The specifics on each will be listed afterwards.)
One –Creative writing: Creating a fictional story of Technology surpassing the Gods or humans
Two – Literary analysis: Examining the Ray Bradbury There Will Come Soft Rains.
Creative option (requirements)
-Your story must be around four pages. Stick to the limits and do not overwrite. For reference, consider what you wrote for the creation and apocalypse sections and expect to write double of what you wrote for those individual assignments. The assignment is relatively short; keep the character list short as well. You’re not writing the history of Middle Earth.
-Introducing: Introduce us to this fiction world you have created and the major players. You must have Gods, humans and a technological creation. The Gods can be completed made up (like in the creation assignment) or you can utilize any God, trickster, etc from any of the cultures we have studied in World Mythology. Remember, stick to the typical roles of the Gods in these ancient or modern mythologies.
Story: Create a dilemma early on where the humans or Gods create a piece of A.I or an automaton. The creation must soon release some sort of havoc on the world. The creation can also have some unintended effects on society even if they were created for a purpose, convenience. These creations by the end of the story these A.I or automaton creation must either surpass the Gods, humans or both.
Literary analysis option (requirements)
Focus on analyzing Ray Bradbury’s There Will Come Soft Rains

-This story shows the world before a tragedy happened. What was the life of these characters before their world (or the world) was upended? Is there any correlation between the pre-disaster world and the post-disaster world?
-What effect does the technology of the story have on the world? Write with specific, quoted examples from the text to further your analysis.
Conclusion: Use this as an opportunity to write your thoughts in first person about the effects that technology has on our culture. Be reasonable and logical in your reflection.
