Final Project “Create a Country”
Throughout the year we have learned about different aspects of a country. Your final project will be to create a country and explain the different aspects of human geography of your country.
Create a Country: Requirements you need for your map:
Supplies you will need: poster board (I will provide) The name, shape, & size of your country will come from your imagination. Projects are due on: December 17th

2. Parts of a Map:
1. Compass Rose
2. Map Key
3. Map scale
4. Map grid (labeled with degrees)
5. Symbols
3. Political Map features
1. Country
2. States/provinces
3. Boundaries (geometric & physical)
4. You Need four Cities (each of the below – make sure you know where they should be located at. Use your Map Key and symbols to indicate the different city sizes, by population. Add make sure to name your cities. 1. Capital 2. Edge city 3. Megacity 4. Port city
4. Geographic features – at least 4 different features examples: Mountains, deserts, forests, lakes, oceans, ect.. Make sure to name them
5. Agricultural Area: what does your country grow
6. Official Language
7. Design a flag (with meaning behind the colors or symbols).
8. Climate (tropical, arctic, etc.).
9. What does your country produce and what does it export.
10. What type of Government does your country have: Oligarchy, Autocracy (Dictatorship), Direct Democracy, Representative Democracy, Theocracy, Monarchy, Constitutional Monarchy, Republic
11. What kind of Culture does your country have: What is the most celebrated Holiday
12. What is the Religion breakdown of your country?
13. Draw or Glue in someone with the traditional clothing of your country.
14. What is the most Popular dishes or signature cuisine of your country
15. Currency: Name of the money and Design a sample bill or coin.
16. National Animal: Explain why it represents the country.
17. Add one unique Famous landmark to your country.
Use symbols to indicate the different requirements and place them all on your map key. Make your country unique to you – utilize your interests and hobbies to create the country. You can use Photos, drawings, or printed images. Make sure it is neat and colorful . You may choose to paste some the information on a decorated sheet or a “scrapbook” with information above in regards to your country that goes along with your map poster if you run out of room on your poster board.
