**If you would like to send me a copy of your finished paper before the due date in order to receive feedback, I will be accepting papers until July 21st. I am also available by appointment to meet with you to look over your paper and provide you feedback.**

*** For this writing assignment, you will be required to pick your own topic related to human trafficking. Topics may come from the textbook, class discussion, movies/documentaries, guest speakers, and anything else covered throughout the course that you will research in depth. You are given the option of being "prescriptive" (identifying a problem and offering solutions), or "descriptive" (describing an issue using class and outside textual research). You should incorporate any relevant key terms, concepts, or ideas that were discussed throughout the semester in your paper.***

****You do not need to have your topic approved, however, if you are unsure if your topic meets the requirements, I would suggest for you to see or email me to discuss it in further detail.****

Final Paper (15 points total)

· The paper should be 7-8 page and should critically analyze and evaluate a human trafficking topic.

· The paper will require an APA title, abstract, and reference page (Not included in the 7-8 pages required) .

· The paper must be double-spaced , with 1.0-inch margins , in Times New Roman , 12-point type size, font.

· Your paper must draw from a minimum of 5 sources , which must be cited correctly in the text and be documented correctly in the reference page. These sources should be articles from academic journals or books published by an academic press (NO Wikipedia, Huffington Post, Washington Post, CNN). Your textbook may be used as a source but does not count towards the 5 that are required .

· Do not include theses or dissertations as references. Works cited and the references must be in APA format .

· You need to write your paper in a professional manner . You should review it for grammar and mechanics errors. If you need any additional assistance with your paper, you may make an appointment with FIU’s Center for Excellence in Writing for tutorial services. · This writing assignment is worth 15% of your final grade.

Format

Title Page (not included in the 7-8 pages required)

The title page should be the first page of your writing assignment. The title aims to catch the attention of the reader and compel him/her to read on, thus your title should be descriptive, punchy, and relevant.

Abstract (not included in the 7-8 pages required)

The abstract should be a 200-250 word summary of your research and thesis. The purpose of this element is to help the reader quickly ascertain the paper's purpose.

Introduction

The purpose of this element of your paper is to introduce the topic(s) that will be discussed

in your paper. Ideally, your introduction should be interesting to draw your reader in. Your

introduction should convey to the reader your topic of discussion, how you plan to proceed with

your discussion, and why your topic is important. It is important for your introduction to contain

a thesis statement – a statement that asserts what your main argument is. It is also important to define any key terminology that is needed to understand the topic. Assume that the reader is not knowledgeable about anything that you will be discussing.

Body

The body of your paper is where you present the evidence needed to support your thesis

statement. The body is the largest part of a research paper; in it you collect and arrange evidence that will persuade the reader of your argument. It should, therefore, have a logical organization.

For this paper, you will need to use the appropriate subheadings within the body of your paper (following APA formatting directions).

Conclusion

This section should briefly restate your thesis and summarize your main points. Any future

implications or additional insights may be added here.
