Bayeux Tapestry

You can find a description of each section here

The Bayeux Tapestry is in fact an embroidered cloth of about 230 feet

There are about 50 separate scenes commemorating events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England

It is believed to date to the late 11th century near the time of the Battle of Hastings (1066)

Legend holds that Queen Matilda or, her husband, William the Conqueror’s half brother Bishop Odo commissioned the tapestry but the precise origin of the work is unknown

The tapestry was found in Bayeux Cathedral (Normandy, France) which was built by Odo
