Term Paper – Ethics in Leadership (Final Exam 500Pts): Students will complete a paper on the importance of ethics in business leadership. Students will share their thesis essay (one paragraph) for approval prior to beginning the paper. The thesis essay must detail the perspective the student will choose to address the topic of ethics in business leadership.

Students may be creative in their area or field of focus. You must share your research and provide a comprehensive argument detailing your understanding of leadership, ethics, and the importance of ethics in the business leadership.

A successful paper will need no less than an introduction paragraph, a thesis paragraph, at least one paragraph to define leadership, at least one paragraph to define ethics, at least one paragraph to define the importance of ethical leadership, paragraphs discussing the literature reviewed, paragraphs to detail your argument, and a conclusion paragraph.

A successful paper will also be free or grammar, spelling, and formatting errors. All sources used in researching the paper must be cited and presented in a reference section using APA format. Students must use a minimum of ten (10) resources; a minimum of five (5) of the resources must be empirical peer-reviewed sources, all other sources may be from a business related journal or newspaper.

This Term Paper will serve as a capstone for this course and should demonstrate that you have read and can apply the information you have been reading and presenting throughout this course.

Thesis Statement

While being unethical can still be legal, and you can maximize profits, Ethical business practice is very important, and those who do not follow the rules should be penalized because It is the proper way to do business. Loopholes are found by businesses who want to take shortcuts and not operate with good faith. With the increase in competition, leaders with weak morals create a bad environment and put their companies at risk with unethical business practices. Not following a code of ethics can create an unhealthy work environment, and businesses have to follow specific rules. Unethical business leadership is detrimental to companies over the long term, on the contrary having a strong business leadership with good values can contribute to a lot of success and a positive work environment for an organization.
