Final Assignment Option

Recently, I canceled on a friend who I had plans with for a very long time. We made reservations to go to an arcade and restaurant for his birthday, and I felt very bad because I had to cancel to hang out with another friend. This affected my relationship with this person because I lost their trust since they believed I disrespected them by not making it to the plan. I didn’t properly make amends with this person because I was not sure how to apologize. My friend completely stopped talking to me, so I was not too sure how to make amends to them.

The apology letter which I would write to Alex is below:

Dear Alex,

Regret: I'd like to apologize for canceling our plans to hang out. I know that we had been planning to hang out for a very long time and you were excited, however, I didn't realize how important it was for you. I chose to hang out with another person because I thought I would not be able to hang out with the other person for a very long time.

Responsibility: This in part, was very disrespectful for me to do and I know you might not want to accept my apology right away. The only explanation that I have is that I made a mistake and that it won't happen again. I promise to be a great friend to you and to always respect you as well as our plans. I hope this does not greatly affect our relationship.

Remedy: I'm willing to make amends with you. Please let me know what I can do to make you feel better. And I promise you that from now on I will try to be a better friend who will keep their promises. I will learn how to be a better friend for you in order to fix our relationship. I hope to give you space as much as you want but I also want you to know that you are very important in my life as a friend.
