Outcome 6 Assessment Project

Outcome 6: Reflect cognitively and metacognitively on processes for writing and analysis, building on strengths and addressing weaknesses.

Directions: Reflect on Project X by answering the following questions in the way assigned by your instructor. Write a minimum of one well-developed paragraph in response to each question. Include concrete examples to explain your reasoning.

Identify the purposes of Project X as you understand them and your initial reaction(s) to attempting the assignment. In discussing your reaction(s), briefly compare/contrast the purposes of the assignment with others you have completed in the course.

Describe, in as much detail as possible, your process in writing Project X. Start with the moment you received the assignment and end with the moment you turned in your project. What steps did you complete, in what order, and how much time did you invest in each of these steps? For this response, you can write in paragraph form or make a timeline, a chart, or a bulleted list of your steps with brief explanations for each step.

What kinds of problem-solving did you have to do to complete this assignment? Identify at least one challenge, stuck point, or breakthrough that occurred in your process and how you tried to overcome, resolve, or work through it.

Identify your strengths as a writer based on your current version of Project X. Reflect on how you developed these strengths throughout the writing/revision process of this assignment. Feel free to discuss any resources (e.g., peer review, instructor feedback, tutoring) that helped you.

How will you build on the strengths you identified in question 4? Outline your plan of action for using these positive writing practices in future writing situations.

Identify your weaknesses or things you want to work on as a writer based on your current version of Project X. Briefly explain whether you tried to address them and how. Feel free to discuss any resources (e.g., peer review, instructor feedback, tutoring) you consulted.

How will you address the weaknesses you identified in question 6? Outline your plan of action for addressing the weaknesses you identified in question 6 in future writing situations.
