China’s environmental issues are in rise for instance you are able to view thousands of bloated pigs floating down the river which supplies Shanghai drinking water. Additionally, air pollution is impenetrable .The problems are coupled by Chinese government stony silence about problems that can affect the country’s economic development and its environment. China burns 47% of global coal and areas around Beijing are surrounded by coal and burning power plants. There are also instances of chemical accident leakage like benzene that is known to cause cancer. All this are some of the environmental issues in my place.

Recalling from my early school days, there are series of hazy days when I was in high school. Students can barely have PE classes, which was bad for me considering the fact that I was a crazy sports lover. The reason for this hazy day was because of the carbon dioxide that was released by the cars and the planes which had deep harm on peoples’ health.

The main environmental issues that are discussed in this paragraph, with the development of technology, transportation is developing very fast. Nowadays, cars have become an indispensable part of a family. Planes have also become an important tool for human travel. Despite the fact that we really enjoy travelling with new means of transport such as through air, they come with shortcomings such as polluting to the environment. So we should try to avoid using cars if we have other more green transportation to help air pollution. Nowadays people are aware of the environment issue so my home country took some actions try to clean the air and also Beavan try to influence the audience by writing a book called “No Impact Man.”

In the book “No Impact Man” which is written by Beavan. In the first chapter of No Impact Man Beavan is introducing his life and perspectives on human life. Through a analysis of his life Beavan realizes that he is demanding too much from his relatives without obtaining enough from himself. He heard stories on global warming over the news and realized that people ought to change their views. The author claims that problem is actions performed by people. He attempts to write a story, his aim was to have no environmental impact. He decides that his family will bring a positive change in the environment.

Beavan mainly talks about how to reduce the greenhouse gas in the Chapter five of his book. In the chapter, there are two main parts which attracts me most. As the author Beavan mentioned that due to the greenhouse effect and air pollution, people now should be carbon footprint reduction which in such case we should avoid of taking plane or driving cars. We should be as green as possible. In order to reach his goal be a no impact man. Beavan canceled the trip to visit his mom and spend the time with them at Christmas because of the environmental impact. Flying in planes uses up so much fuel and generates a lot of pollution. In this part, Beavan use a clear compare example of airplane and cars. According to Beavan, (2009) , ‘He mentioned that the round trip of plane billows three tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, as much as an entire average year of driving.’ (No impact man. P74).

The comparison between the plane and car gives the audience a clear view of how much the plane cause harm to the environment. And also by mentioning his “mom”, it actually arouses the emotion among the readers in deep heart. “Christmas” is one of the most important times of family. Due to the human’s common sense, people may choose to be with family but he chooses be an impact man instead of having a great time with his family. After reading this, audience may arouse the strong missing of family especially the ones living in the different countries with their parents. Behind the strong missing part, the audience may feel how strong Beavan want to state his idea.

From my own point of view, his idea is almost impossible to be implemented since Christmas is a time when families come together and enjoy quality time as a family. Family issues are of more importance than the air pollution in such case, and it must be considered that Christmas only come once every year. Therefore, one time flight will have much effect on the environment in terms of the carbon dioxide that will be emitted to the environment. Home is always the best place to be in a sense that the feeling of missing home always arouse when we are to leave home for a period of time.

Beavan and his wife gave up on driving to work and started walking to work or at times riding their bikes to work. In an attempt to help his wife out, Beavan purchases a XootrS cooter, so she doesn't have to walk for long. According to Beavan, (2009) ,“Even when it rained, even when it snowed, even when it froze.”(No impact man. p76). By looking though the sentence, there is a sentence structure - parallel structure which really caught my attention when I read it. Looking at the parallel structure, it actually makes an extreme emphasis on how firm the author is about the idea. The point Beavan is trying to illustrate here is to show the condition of the weather.Although it is such bad and crazy weathers, Beavan will still ride his bike to work or to anywhere.

After reading here, there will be a strong emotion arouse in the audiences’ heart and the audience may be touched because, regardless of the bad weather, Beavan will still not use his vehicle in order to try and reduce the emission carbon dioxide through his vehicle. In such case, the statement is much stronger than the effects brought by bad weather. It actually makes the statement much more persuasive and powerful.

According to me, there is no doubt that biking is one of the great ways of reducing carbon dioxide emission but due to human’s inner subconscious mind, no one will be willing to let themselves to experience the cold weather by riding a bike due to the fear of falling ill. Beavan has provided lots of great ideas and examples in the book “no impact man”. Although his idea and sentence are actually persuasive and environmental friendly but there is lack of human nation emotion. I believe that the ideas presented by my own country in protecting the environment will be more productive.

According to the article provided “Xue feng” who is the author form China National Democratic Construction Association .It mainly talk about the government of my own country published some concepts and techs which effectively solve the problem. “Biking sharing” was one of the most useful things that first come up to my mind when we are talking about the environmental issues. “Biking sharing” is that the government gathers huge amounts of bikes with GPS on it, and put them near the metro stations and bus stops even outside peoples’ apartments. When it comes to using the new technology, people only required to download an app called “sharing biking” and use the phone's camera to scan the QR code which is on the license plate.

Bike sharing lower the carbon and reduce the air pollution.According to Xuefeng (2017) ‘the analysis of relevant experts, in the case of good technical conditions, a car without emission control device can discharge more than 600 grams of pollutants a day.’ (www. cndca.org.cn). The carbon dioxide released by the car will cause huge damage to human body and cause serious lung disease. And according to Xuefeng (2017) ‘ The central government of China stressed the need to enhance the efforts of ecological environmental protection and accelerate the improvement of the ecological environment, especially the air quality.’ (www. cndca.org.cn). The invention of the bike sharing not only fit the requirement of government of China but also solve the problem. People now can use shared bike to travel to outside and it reduce the carbon footprint as well and also change the travel mode.

By using a lot of authorities’ quotes will make the statements strong and effective. Especially the central government one which makes people feel that the gas release by the car is a urgent need for Shanghai because policy made by the Chinese Central Government is always a big exhortation for our citizen. The quote will arouse the resonance among the readers and courage them change from driving the car to used the shared bike.

Bike sharing also reduce the use of taxi and uber in specific distance. Shanghai is an international city which was full of metro lines. According to Xuefeng (2017) ‘Shanghai is a city with 13 subway lines, and the subway can reach almost all the places you want to go.’ (www.cndca.org.cn). Although subway line can take you to the place you wanna to go. For example, if you are going to a restaurant in a small lane. It is the place subway line can not get you there. Back to the old days, if this situation happens, the first thing you will choose is to uber there. But nowadays, with the invention of the bike sharing, you can just bike to the place you want which reduce the carbon footprint as well.

The example of the metro seems does not show how shared bikes have been related to reduce the carbon footprint. But actually it emphasized how biked sharing have generally changed our daily travel mode.

Riding a bicycle seems to be inconvenient than driving a car, however it is the best way of protecting the environment against pollution. If everyone can settle on biking to work rather than driving, then it is with no doubt that we shall have made great strides towards protecting the environment. However, the changes cannot be realized that first as it will take time for them to function.The long-term changes will be overdue but at last they will be implemented. It is the dream of every parent to have children with good health. Therefore, parents should teach their children on the ways of protecting the environment. Good environment will make the children to live a healthy life.Due to these reasons, I think my home country campaign will have a better effect than what Beavan claims to be since everyone will be given an opportunity to access a bike and they will be made available at everyone’s door step.
