At lease 1000 words due June 9th 12:00pm Central Time
The world-famous TEDx platform provides a megaphone for ideas that are shared at local events. Past speakers say participation in TEDx led to professional opportunities.
Imagine you are invited to speak at one of the TEDx lucrative events and voice your views/stand/experience/vision on sustainability and climate change in an “inspirational,” “necessary,” inclusive,” “thought-provoking” and “motivational” manner.
This course is a great opportunity for you to articulate your stands on sustainability and climate change, include facts and figures, examples, and course materials. Take this opportunity to envision, confront and re frame the challenges of tomorrow. Creative interpretations of the theme are encouraged.
TEDx talks and performances incorporate concepts that change perceptions, connect with emotions, are widely relatable and can be conveyed in 18 minutes or less.
Write up the text for the assignment. It should be at least 1000 words.
What you need to cover:
· What does sustainability mean to you? What were your impressions before and after the coursework?
· From our weekly modules, choose at least 3 topics and describe your research, views, learning, and what can we do as a society to encourage change and make an impact?
· Quote from our resources. Please make sure you read the rubric for the final paper. I would love to read your views, but I need you to base them on the materials in the course.
About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to "ideas worth spreading." Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Pope Francis and Daniel Kahneman.
