Investment policy statement (IPS)
This portfolio is designed for an older investor more than 50 years old with a conservative risk profile. The primary objective of this portfolio is Long-term growth and capital preservation. Furthermore, using a total return strategy capturing interest and dividend income is the underlying secondary investment objective. The portfolio will target an annual total return 6% with a 5-year average standard deviation of less than 18. The portfolio's 1-year loss limit which in the worst case scenario is 15-18%. The target and annually maintained asset allocation to achieve the risk and return goals for this investment strategy will be 60% stock assets and 40% fixed. The portfolio is to be rebalanced an annual basis at the beginning of each calendar year starting Jan 1, 2019. Using 5-year statistical data, the investment holding period will be determined using the efficient frontier, upon annual review, when an asset becomes inefficient relative to its peers it will be replaced. Costs will be monitored annually to ensure that total costs do not surpass 1% of all investable assets. Each index mutual fund or exchange traded funds’ returns will be compared with their related benchmark. Any deviation from that benchmark will be evaluated and discussed annually. The holdings will also be compared with peer group funds.
