ENGR 102: Computer Aided Design
Homework 3: Assemblies in SolidWorks Due electronically via CANVAS by 11:59 PM the night before your next class meeting. Refer to submission instructions for information regarding how to properly submit your files. Refer to the following tutorials and video lectures for guidance: Assemblies, Assembly Mates, Revolves and Sweeps.
Create solid models of the four parts shown on the following page according to the following:
Part Required Features Restricted Features Pin Extruded boss/base, Fillet (none) Body Sweep of 19 x 19 mm cross-
section, Chamfer, Extruded cut (for 10mm THRU hole only)
Extruded boss/base
Screw (Extruded boss/base OR Revolved boss/base) AND Extruded cut
(none)
Swivel Revolved boss/base Extruded boss/base, Extruded cut
Assemble the parts into a C-Clamp as shown. The mates should be sufficient to allow only the translational and rotational degrees of freedom indicated on the drawing. In other words:
the pin should freely translate and rotate so long as it remains concentric with the thru- hole in the screw;
the screw should freely translate and rotate so long as it remains concentric with the thru- hole in the body;
the swivel should freely rotate so long as it remains concentric with the screw shaft; the swivel should translate along with the screw; and, the body should be fixed.
You may optionally include Limit Mates to limit the allowable range of motion of the translational degrees of freedom of each part to prevent unscheduled disassembly.
You need only submit your assembly as a Pack-and-Go .ZIP file, being sure to include all referenced part files (i.e., the .ZIP file should contain one (1) .SLDASM file and four (4) .SLDPRT files).
