Field Report

Report on Challenges that come with Technology

Introduction

The impact of technology could not be underestimated on the wellbeing of both the

people and corporate. Through technology, interpersonal communication has been enhanced,

which in turn has enabled people to stay connected. The revolution of technology has been

instrumental to corporations leading to increased marketing and efficiency. Despite all these

merits that technology has brought to people as well as business enterprises, it has also come

with various challenges that have compromised the wellbeing of people together with the

operation of the business. As a result, I research the field to understand more about these

compromises. In this report, I will present the findings of the challenges resulting from

technology after engaging in an interview with Jonathan, an IT specialist at one of the leading IT

companies in my Hometown. The brief discussion covered critical facts about technology,

mainly the dangers associated with technology such as cyberbullying, arms trafficking, as well as

child pornography. Through these dangers, technology has been identified as the primary driver

of the current society crime since it enhances secrecy and connectivity.

Field Trip Objective

The objective of the field trip was to get to know how technological advancement has

resulted in increased criminal activities in today's society and which measures can be adopted to

regulate the high crime rates that threaten the wellbeing of the individuals and business

corporations.

Procedure

I used the qualitative data collection technique of the interview approach to get the

crucial facts. In this case, I engaged IT experts in a dialogue to inquire about the dangers that

result from the use of technology.

Field observation and Findings

Technology is a powerful impact subject to the lives of people. It has both positive and

negative effects on the wellbeing of individuals. Technology has significantly enhanced the lives

of people, especially from the perspectives of communication and production. The research

indicated that the lives of people would be almost perfect if they appropriately use technology.

Therefore, it is believed that the misuse of technological devices is the primary reason for the

dangers resulting from technology. As the interviewee – Jonathan responded, misuse of

technology put the wellbeing of the people into a critical threat. He highlighted that people abuse

social networking sites to bully others, demean those bullied. Simultaneously, some individuals

use social media to engage in criminal activities on the dark web, such as child pornography,

drugs, and arms trafficking, and unethical hacking.

These dangers can be mitigated if there would be monitoring of the use of technological

items. The interviewee noted that it would be an ideal approach to manage the threats of

technology use. He, however, clarified that since monitoring might be somewhat challenging, the

best technique is to educate the masses on the suitable ways of using technology at an early

stage. For instance, children should be taught netiquettes, which would promote social media

dignity and respect. Besides, learning the correct ways of applying the internet would render

children the knowledge together with skills to leave websites that engage in criminal

undertakings. The research indicated that there are two significant dangers of technology, which

are information security coupled with social media misuse. The interviewee noted that cloud

computing had meaningfully promoted the management and safety of data, but still, technology

could be breached.

Moreover, social media has enhanced the connections of people across the world though

it might have led to intercultural conflicts when misused. Therefore, finding answers to the two

significant dangers would have significantly lowered the adverse effects of technology on the

wellbeing of people and corporates. All those insights into the issue are applicable in enhancing

the usage of technological tools.

Analysis

While on my field trip, I met with Jonathan, who, through his insights, enhanced my

understanding of the dangers which results from technology. The dialogue made me realize that

human beings fuel most of the problems that result from technological usage. They are prompted

by the misuse of the interventions for personal benefits. Some of the common instances are

cyberbullying, in which a person aims to intimidate the other. The menace can be ideally

addressed if people could be taught to integrate their netiquettes into online behaviors. That

approach would enable people to recognize that each of the social media users deserves respect.

The research also illustrated that the key drivers of the misuse of technology were selfish desires,

which resulted in illicit practices. Thus, the wrong utilization of internet compromises

technology and can be solved by ethically using the internet.

In brief, it was evident that the threats that came with technology result from unethical

behaviors of people who abuse technological tools for their own benefits. The field trip made to

our realization that technology is essential to people and businesses' wellbeing since it could

connect people and raise the productivity of workers. Those insights elaborated that technology

was not a bad thing, but attempts by people to benefit themselves at the expense of others make

it seems cruel. Thus, people would be educated on technological tools to observe netiquette.
