English 1102 Fiction:

**600-800 word essay analyzing at least one element of fiction.

Possible Stories

· “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been” Joyce Carol Oates

· “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” and/or other Flannery O’Connor stories

· “Sonny’s Blues” James Baldwin

· “The Things They Carried” Tim O’Brien

· You may choose another story from our book, but there are some stories which don’t have much published support in journal articles, etc. If you find a different story in the book you might want to research, send it to me, and I will let you know about possibly availability.

** You may NOT use a story we have already covered in our class.

** You may not use a story outside of our textbook.

**3-4 academic secondary sources from GALILEO, GIL, Google Scholar, etc.

**MLA format: double spaced, heading, Works Cited page, etc.

**NO Masterplots (Careful! These are on Galileo, too.) , NO Shmoop, Sparknotes, Cliffs Notes, BookCaps, LitCharts, or similar sources. No posts from fellow students for other classes. These are NOT sources; they are forms of cheating as they do the job for you. I want to see YOUR ideas. If you are in doubt, email me a source, and I will let you know if it is valid.
