Feminist Lit Theory Prompt
This is a short essay about 2 pages and must require no plagiarism.
Using Long Day's Journey into Night and another text we read this semester, answer the question below. To do so, you will need to quote and/or paraphrase from the LDJN and the other text you choose.( the yellow wallpaper)You may use your completed grids, as well. Do be sure to put any play titles in italics and to enclose short story titles in quotation marks. Please do not use "you," contractions; do use your best grammar and formal-writing conventions.
This is a short-essay question, so you do NOT need an introduction paragraph and a concluding paragraph. Instead, respond in one or two well developed paragraphs. You will need to make sure you have a topic sentence and will need to use at least two quotations/paraphrases from LDJN and another two from the other work ( the yellow wallpaper) (minimum of four all together). Do introduce quotations and do cite. No works cited page is needed.
You are fully capable of responding to these questions on your own!
Thus, do NOT use other outside resources, whether friends, family, databases, books, articles, SparkNotes, LitCharts, Schmoop, etc. Doing so will result in an F on the assignment, and students will be reported to the Dean of Students for further disciplinary action.
Feminist Lit Theory Prompt
Acclaimed Russian writer Leo Tolstoy wrote that “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” That patriarchy makes women and their families suffer could be the theme of several of the works we read this semester. Using LDJN and another text, show how feminist theory explains WHY women and their families are unhappy in a patriarchal world. Be sure to give specific examples from the two texts in the form of quotations or paraphrases: do select two quotations/ paraphrases from each text, making sure to cite and introduce correctly (minimum of four, total).
