Hey Robert,

These are the minutes of the discussion which I had with my supervisor. All the changes which he has mentioned in comments to be looked through is comment sections only, I asked for some elaboration on few points.

1. In Research questions -

we need to have 3 questions where another two, I came up with him as follows -

· What impact does changes in current policies and rules and regulations of SME firms have on social sustainability (Question- 2)

· What are the Reasons for failure of implementation of activing encompassing social sustainability at the managerial level of organization. (Question- 3)

Here, first question will be same as What are the factors influencing social sustainability in the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in India in context of the food industry? This question has been answered through literature review we have done in chapter two and have created the framework in the chapter 2. Other two questions will be answered through semi-structure interviews. Comment by Jayant Garg: We need to use word drive or blockers instead of influencing as influencing could be negative or positive.

2. In Aims and objective –You need to present this as novel in some way, this will depend on how you frame the research in the literature review. Here, he meant that we explain how this is going to be new, what I’m learning like for question 2 in research work, there has been recent changes in the policies(mentioning the years) which make our point valid.

· We have to already discussed about the policies in literature review, but now like when was policy changed and what were the major changes. Comment by Jayant Garg: In my point of view, I believe if we put that CSR abetment year will be great, rest you know better.

3. In interview questions –

· He said this is missing - what is stopping you, blocking you or do you believe you could have done better . Also, this will help us to answer the 3 question

· For question 2 we can revise and edit questions given by you.

· Last, question will be reference of anyone else who could be interviewed.

4. In Chapter 2 –

· In conceptual framework –

(i) We need to take it from 2.8 to 2.7 and include 2.7 in it before the figure.

(ii) We need to mention in the beginning of 2.7 that we have created this through systematic reading of { words like SME in India, CSR and others few which you have used ( please include these two as I have mentioned him)} through google scholar and then put 2.7 points. Later on, we have mentioned 11 points there but have only 6 points in the framework, please mention that however, few points are similar, so we have fed them into 6 main or major points.

· Please remove SWOT/Pestal analysis words as they are of not MSc level, if we want to mention those then we need to explain ,create and clarify those( I suggest, let’s not put these according to supervisor).

· Introduction of the literature review- Do mention about we are taking these 3-4 elements in it which will lead to conceptional element.

· Reference is must and we haven’t referred lot of points.

5. In chapter 3 –

· According to him, There are too much of definition, we need to look at research questions and start with a piece of research. Example – In time horizon, we have defined it a lot and then when the interesting part comes about the difference and making justification we haven’t mentioned enough. This has been the case in many areas which we need to edit.

· In sampling

(i) Instead of random sampling, please mention about snowball sampling.

(ii) Instead of questionnaire, it will be semi structured interviews.

· Selection criteria is missing, he what to know like size of the sample, in which areas the companies are working, level of the management we are going to interview ( Mention high level management), geographical area ( Punjab and Haryana state of India) and number of samples taken ( we have mentioned 10, in a case scenario where we can’t interview those many, we can reduce those.) .

· Coding has been missing which he said has to be done, he has given two article where open, axial and relational coding are which he suggests to be done as there is no software required and it is not time consuming.

· We need not to mention about secondary data in data collection.

There is addition of 2 new research questions in last meeting and feedback of literature review and methodology is given before that, we need to edit some part according to that. Also, there has been too much words used to define and repletion of same lines which makes the reader disinterested, if possible, we can explain, elaborate or showcase comparison would be great.

Thanks mariam
