Feedback Journal: Graduate Writing II

Name:

Week 1: Feedback Preferences

What kind of feedback would you like to receive from your instructor? On what aspect of writing would you most like to receive feedback?”

TYPE YOUR ANSWER HERE: My preferred method of receiving feedback is through email in a written format that is easily understood. I am a very visual learner and I often comprehend a subject better when I am given an example of what is expected of me. The type of feedback I would like to receive from my instructor is constructive feedback that will help me improve my overall writing. I want to become a scholarly writer so I may apply it to my dissertation. I often get lost in my writing topic and lose sight of what I was trying to describe or explain. I would like to receive the most feedback on my grammar and writing style. As English is my second language I often transpose words or fail to clearly write down my idea. I need to learn to connect with my audience.

Strengths and Weaknesses: In thinking of myself as a scholar, the area I feel most confident in is my vision and the way I am able to describe it in writing. I am confident that I poses writing skills that are needed for a scholar writer, I just need to strengthen them and apply them to my everyday writing and speech. In Scholarly writing the area of improvement that I feel I most need to work on is in the way I deliver feedback to peer reviews. I also need to not let Scholarly writing intimidate me, after all it is just a new way of writing, it is writing with style.

Use this journal to record the writing feedback you receive. Please update and submit this table by Day 7 of Weeks 2 through 5.
