Overall Feedback

09/02/2021

Hi Brent,

Thanks for submitting your work for Global Citizenship and Media.  You've made a good start with some of your assessments, but you also seem to be not quite understanding what you're being asked to do.

Please refer to my comments dated 09/02/2021 for details about what is still needed to master the project.  Make sure that you are closely following these instructions for your six assessments and the changes you're proposing to selected messages:

· For each assessment, mark if the element of global citizenship is present. If it is not present, leave that spot blank, and use the Explanation column to explain if there is simply no information or if it is blatantly problematic. If it’s problematic, please describe briefly.

· Assess each delivery method for timeliness, dissemination techniques, and intended audience. Analyze which are effective, and explain why or why not.  (Note that your comments need to specifically assess these three points (timeliness, dissemination technique, and intended audience) for each message)

· Choose 1 to 3 messages that do not fully align with global citizenship. For each of the main categories (social equality, environment, and political issues), draw on your knowledge of intercultural communication techniques to suggest a change. This change should bring the message in line with that element of global citizenship. Note: It does not need to cover all aspects of global citizenship, just the one you are targeting.  Make sure you are proposing an actual change to the message itself (that is, wording it differently, etc.).

If you still have questions, please reach out using the Private Discussion.

Thanks, and I look forward to your next submission!

Criterion Feedback

09/02/2021: You've done well with this in some parts for some messages. What's needed is a clearer and/or more complete evaluation of each message. Some of your comments don't really address specifically how this issue is or is not present in each message. Review the messages again and revise your comments to clearly explain how apparent/important civic issues are in these six messages. Refer to these resources: Civic Issues in Media: Reading- The Role of Media in Society/Reading- WikiLeaks, Journalism Ethics, and the Digital Age- What Did We Learn?

Criterion Feedback

09/02/2021: You are offering more general comments about the value or importance of timeliness, dissemination, and audience, than you are addressing the extent to which each of the six messages was effective or not with regard to those points. Please comment specifically about whether each message was timely, disseminated well, and whether it reach its intended audience. Was the meme or the headline, etc., effective or ineffective with regard to timeliness, dissemination, and reaching the intended audience? When considering audiences, what steps can you take to ensure that you properly assess the importance of the delivery method? Proposes intercultural communication techniques to change messages

Score of Proposes intercultural communication techniques to change messages,/ 1Criterion score has been overridden

Criterion Feedback

09/02/2021: This is a good effort but what you seem to be suggesting here are changes that key nations involved in this crisis could make to improve condition, which is not what this is asking to do. For this requirement you need to choose 1-3 of the six messages and propose a change in the message itself to reflect more effective intercultural communication. So what you need to propose here are changes in the wording of the message. Try highlighting the portion of the original message that you would change, then provide the new wording or other proposed change you are suggesting for each of the main categories (social equality, environment, and political issues). Draw on your knowledge (and reading/research) of intercultural communication techniques, to suggest a change that brings the message in line with that element of global citizenship.
