Feedback for 2-5-2 Project Part One: Formulate Research Question

Submission Feedback

This needs a little work, China. Although you submitted a research question, I found that your question needs revision. We must make sure that your research question is testable, measurable, and clearly within the field of natural science. If the research can't be quantified in a reliable, measurable, way then larger issues will arise later on. I need you to read the feedback that I have given you and correct your question. This step is imperative to your future success of your research paper. Having a clear and focused research question provides you with a foundation to write your research paper. Please take the time to review my feedback, carefully, to ensure that your next submission has the necessary components for proficiency. Also, I have also included a step by step guide in your feedback to help you revise your question if you need it. If you would like for me to review your revised research question, please feel free to email it to me and I'll be happy to assist you. I want you to be right on track as you move forward to the writing phase of your research project. Thanks for your hard work.

Criterion Feedback

Thank you for your submission, China. Although you have developed a research question on your topic, but I found that your question is lacking in specificity. This is a common new scientist mistake. You need to streamline the focus of your question. I recommend adding:

1. a specific industry that will be studied

2. a specific time frame for your experiment

3. a specific geographic location

A well-crafted question is focused on one problem and one measurable outcome. Here's a question format that may work for your research question: What is the effect of _______________ on _________ over _____________? Here's what it looks like in an example: What is the effect of organic toxicants on Bottlenose dolphins' swim patterns in the Gulf of Mexico over 12 months? Does this question format make sense to you? Another way to know if you have a testable and measurable question is to attempt to create an experiment from the question. If you are unable to create an experiment, your research question is probably not testable. Please revise your question and streamline it in this fashion to ensure proficiency. Revision is a normal step in the scientific process, so please don't get discouraged. I hope that my explanation was clear to you. If not, please let me know and I can help you further. Keep on working and you will be back on track soon. Thanks for your effort.

Criterion Feedback

Thanks for your submission, China! There are no major errors related to citation, grammar, spelling, syntax, and organization. Writing this way will ensure that your readers are thoroughly informed about your topic. As you continue to work on your future documents, I would like for you to make some additions to your overall paper to make it more accurate. You must include in-text citations in your issue section and a reference page (with hanging indents) at the end of your paper. When you write in science, you must use references. Scientists are skeptical about everything and require proof, or evidence. If you don't have any resources, it's almost like you haven't said anything, to a scientist. The preferred resource is a scientific article. So, moving forward, whenever you write in science, make sure to provide an accurate list of the scientific articles that you used. This should be in the form of in-text citations (in your issue section) and a reference page on a page by itself on the end of your paper. You can use the citation guide that I posted in the General Discussion board to ensure you have the correct format. If you need more assistance, please contact the SNHU Writing Center for assistance. This will help you achieve proficiency on your future submissions. Keep on working hard!
