The course of Diversity consists of learning about racial/ethnic backgrounds in order for us the medical professionals to better assist and understand our patients and staff. In a world full of rich culture, religion, different backgrounds, genders, and sexualities, it is important to learn about how to care for our patients the best possible way. We want to promote safety, comfort, acceptance, proper counseling, effective communication, and efficient medicines and practices in order to approach our patients with a fitting recovery. Diversity also educates us on what to do if we are the ones facing refusal or discrimination from either a staff or patient and how to best respond to it.

Another class you can use the reflection paper was the leadership class.

Within the leadership class, I was able to grow more confident as a nurse and comprehend what the role of leader consists of and what is expected.  The Practicum and case helped me gain experience with patients and I was able to re-analyze my approaches to certain situations. The Professor provided feedback which allowed me to review my choices and discussions with the staff. I would take her advice and use it to better myself and be a stronger leader.  Through this course reassurance was brought to me on how to best interact with my staff and patients. I learned to become more decisive and consider alternate solutions when faced with issues. It went so well for me that other staff members began to seek my assistance of advice on situations.
