Content/Development
Subject Matter: This project is designed to give students an opportunity to assess their family using a clinical tool that allows them to discover their current family system. The project consisted of two parts. The first being an introduction of your family and the second being an assessment of your family system using the Couple and Family Map and the second being an analysis section identifying the family system, addressing and describing each dimension (e.g., cohesion) through illustrations and commentary of what they consider to be at least one strength and one growth area for the family. The project concluded with a reflection and attaching the Family Couple Map with the family system plot marked regarding where they fell.
Project Components:
• All components regarding the Family Background addressed. • The student's family system was clearly identified within the
assessment. • Student identified one strength and one challenge of their
current family system using concepts under the 3 dimensions (e.g., cohesion and flexibility) assessed and illustrated as it related to the student's family.
• Student illustrated a strength and a challenge for each dimension identifying and using concepts (i.e., loyalty, roles, clarity, change) within each dimension as it related to their family; for a total of two concepts (one as a strength and one as a challenge) for each dimension.
• Sufficient commentary and illustration was provided in order to fully describe what each dimension and chosen concepts looked like in the student’s family that demonstrated why the concepts were perceived to be a strength or a challenge by the student.
• Concluding reflection of the project was provided. • Couple & Family Map with family system plotting included.
